Well, because they make consumers feel unique and special. And that's how I felt when I received two packages this week. The first contained CDs purchased from an independent record store. The traditional padded envelope had been replaced with a plastic-free cardboard version, and on the outside of the package was a handwritten note saying "thank you Fi" with a little heart above it. Inside was a postcard with the store's contact details asking if I could tag them on Instagram. As I consider myself an eco-warrior , I loved that they came up with a more sustainable packaging option and also appreciated the little hand-written note thanking me for visiting.

This packaging made me feel special enough that I wanted to show off their merits on Instagram. These two types of packaging made me want to buy again in these stores and encouraged me to tell my entourage, via social networks, how excellent they were. And these reviews and comments can be vital for a small business or a start-up.



These two companies were able to reflect my own values ​​​​of sustainability and humanized the relationship I have with them by showing me that there were creative and caring people on the other end of my transactions.  these small businesses were able to connect with their customer, me, and made me want to shop with them again, and talk about it.
